Beyond the Data: My Approach to Consultancy
My skills sit within people-centred research, insight and organisational consultancy.
I combine psychology, qualitative research and lived experience to help businesses, charities and public organisations understand the people behind their data. This could involve exploring employee wellbeing, organisational culture, accessibility, customer experience or the impact of a service. While statistics can show what is happening, my approach helps organisations understand why it is happening and what meaningful changes could be made.
Creativity is central to my work, but it is always supported by a clear purpose and a strong scientific research foundation. I use inclusive approaches such as Lived Experience Journey Mapping, body mapping, visual storytelling, reflective diaries, workshops and accessible feedback activities. These methods give people different ways to communicate, particularly when traditional interviews, questionnaires or meetings do not allow them to express their experiences fully. I connect creative thinking with academic rigour, helping organisations hear overlooked voices and turn personal experiences into useful evidence.
What I offer is the ability to bring together areas that are often kept separate: psychology and business decision-making, lived experience and professional knowledge, inclusion and service improvement, and research findings and practical action. I can help organisations ask better questions, engage people meaningfully, evaluate their impact and communicate complex findings clearly. Beyond the Data reflects this approach: looking past figures and performance measures to understand real human experiences—and using those insights to support more inclusive, informed and effective decisions.
